Aftertaste Book Review

I had many, many e-ARCs to read and review last year, but I was unable to find the time to finish all of them. Thanks to a foot injury that replaced my morning exercises with morning reading (my foot is doing better, thanks), I was able to carve out 30 minutes every morning to catch up on my TBR.

Aftertaste was the first 2025 e-ARC on my list, and it did not disappoint!

Have you ever lost a friend or relative and wished you could talk to them again just one more time? Well, through the power of Kostya's supernatural abilities, you can! Ever since Kostya's father died, Kostya has been able to taste food - even food he's never eaten. What are these "aftertastes" and where do they come from? One night, while working in a bar, Kostya decides to make what he's tasting and serve it up to the customer. Well, the customer gets a drink AND the ghost of his dead wife. Kostya's cooking can bring back spirits!

It seems like a good gig, one that lands Kostya his own restaurant (run by thugs). But his psychic girlfriend doesn't want Kostya to bring anyone else back because messing with the spirit world can have consequences. But what could possibly go wrong by reuniting loved ones? Kostya will find out.

This book has humor, sadness, love, and delicious food. I would highly recommend it for a book club!

Aftertaste is published by Simon and Schuster. I received a free e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
