Summer Camp at Home - Week 5: Camping Week

Even if your kids aren't going away to camp, you can still have camping fun right at home. I've compiled a lot of fun camping-themed activities for kids in my Summer Kid School Camping Week Pinterest board, and you can find a few more ideas that I wrote about here.

Or you can keep reading for some of my favorite camping-themed arts and crafts for kids!

Literacy Snack Idea

I absolutely love this Literacy Snack Idea from Primary Playground. It combines a book - A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee - with a cute campfire-themed snack that is easy for kids to create!

Camping Theme Pre-K Resources

The Stay at Home Teacher offers a free printable matching mat, among other hands-on Camping Theme Pre-K Resources, to help younger learners with shape matching.

Camping Coloring Pages

If your kid likes to color as much as mine, then she'll love these Camping Coloring Pages from Life is Sweeter By Design. These would make great busy activities for kids to do in the car or on a plane - maybe on the way to your family's own camping adventure!

Build a Tent STEM

For kids who are in first and second grade, this STEM activity challenges kids to use ordinary items (straws, foil, craft sticks, paper) and build a tent! Teachers are Terrific paired this Build a Tent STEM challenge with the book Where the Wild Things Are, asking kids to make sure their tent really stands so it provides cover for the book's main character, Max.

Camping Bingo

I absolutely love this free printable bingo game from The Crazy Outdoor Mama. Bring Camping Bingo with you on your own camping trip or play it at home under a tent made out of blankets!

Glow-in-the-Dark Jars

I think this idea for Glow-in-the-Dark Jars is so fun, especially when you're camping under the stars. A Girl and a Glue Gun says all you need are jars, glow-in-the-dark paint, wire, and paintbrushes. The paint will start to glow when the sun goes down, lighting up your campsite, back porch, or dark bedroom.

  1. Great ideas! Entertaing kids for a whole summer is not an easy task, but a camping week sounds really fun and it will definitely be a great memory. Thanks for sharing :)
