Like most little girls her age, my daughter LOVES Frozen. She's seen the second movie three times! So when it came time to ask her what she wanted her birthday party theme to be, she picked Frozen.
I've got a whole Frozen Pinterest board filled with ideas for Frozen-themed party decor, invitations, food, and more. I certainly didn't do everything on the board, but we were having a small party that was mostly just family. There are some really clever things you can do if you're hosting a larger gathering.
So what did I do? Well, you might remember earlier this month where I wrote about free birthday party invites that you can customize. I found a great download from another blogger, and then I added in our own party information.
Another free download came from Glitter 'N Spice. I printed it out and used it as door decoration.
Our grocery store also had Frozen-themed party items, such as goody bags, cupcake wrappers, and cupcake flag toppers. So back in January I bought those to be prepared.
I filled the goody bags with Frozen-themed items that I found at Dollar Tree. You'd be so surprised at all the licensed product you can find at Dollar Tree! We gave out magic towels (washcloths that expand in water) and crayons. I found puzzles in the Target $1 spot. And we bought a six-pack of Frozen-branded grape juice boxes from the grocery store.
We served pizza, cake, and ice cream. The pizza was delivery, the cake was homemade from a box mix, and the ice cream was vanilla Turkey Hill. I love to keep things simple!
Although, I say that, but the cake really wasn't that simple. I used Duncan Hines, and it was SO hard to remove from the cake pans, no matter how much I had sprayed them beforehand. Thank goodness for frosting! At least the colors of the cake's layers turned out. I used Wilton food gel for that.
As for activities, I set up a build-your-own-snowman station for the kids with mini and regular marshmallows, chocolate chips, frosting, candy corn, and pretzels. We also did a snowball toss game using fake soft snowballs (from the Target $1 spot) and a white laundry hamper that I decorated to look like a snowman.
The final activity was pin the nose on Olaf. I drew Olaf on a piece of posterboard, and the kids taped on construction paper carrots. Either my blindfold was see-through or those kids were just REALLY good.
After that, the kids just ran around and played, and then we ate, and then we did presents! Super simple, super fun! My daughter had a great time playing with her friends and opening her presents. I think my Frozen birthday party was a success!
