One of the best things about attending the Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo is finding brand new products and companies. There is always something new in the world of gluten-free and allergy-free eating, and this Expo is one of the best ways to find out what's new and get to try what's new! You can watch a recap video of some highlights from the show here on my YouTube channel and then read about a few of my favorite new things from this year's show:
1. MyBread Pita Bread
So many times I have discarded a recipe because I didn't know where to find gluten-free pita bread. Well, here we go! This stuff was really good. They were grilling it up with some olive oil and it was delicious.
I don't have to be dairy-free and neither does my husband, but if you're looking for something that is gluten-free AND dairy-free, then I would definitely recommend the Go Veggie Vegan Spread & Dip. This was surprisingly good and tasted very similar to regular cream cheese.
3. The Bay Ridge Bakery Gluten-Free Gloriously
If you are gluten-free but want your fancy desserts, then have no fear because that's where the Bay Ridge Bakery's Gluten-Free Gloriously comes in. This dedicated gluten-free facility is located in NJ and was started by a pastry chef whose nephew has Celiac disease. They do all kinds of yummy products, so check out their catalog and order your next birthday cake or wedding cake or holiday desserts from them!
4. Isibisi Gluten-Free Pasta
There are a lot of gluten-free pastas out there on the market, but this one comes straight from Italy. If you're not a fan of some of the other gluten-free pastas out there, then you might want to give this company a try.
5. Green Mustache Mustache Munchies
Well, I really love the name, plus these snacks are in the shape of mustaches. So cute! Originally developed as a healthier alternative to Goldfish crackers for kids, Mustache Munchies can be enjoyed by grown-ups, too! They come in three flavors and are very yummy to snack on.
Speaking of dairy-free products, I sampled the Daiya "cheese" pizza at the Expo and it was really good! I know this company has been around for a while, but it was new to me so it's making my list. If you are gluten-free and dairy-free and looking for a pizza alternative, I think this pizza is a good option, especially for those busy weeknights.
7. The Path of Life Brand
Looking for new ways to enjoy quinoa, cauliflower, and kale but don't have a lot of time to spend cooking them? Then let The Path of Life help you out! All of this company's products are found in the frozen foods section, so all you have to do is heat it up and serve as a side dish or add your favorite protein and you've got yourself a main dish in no time.
8. Nurtur Me Organic Quinoa Cereals
As a mom, this product was one that I could definitely appreciate. When I was given the go-ahead to start Daphne on baby cereal, I was a little concerned about giving her too much rice cereal because of the arsenic. Maybe I was overthinking it, but it would have been nice to know that something like these quinoa cereals were around. Billed as being a healthy alternative to rice, they come in different flavors, and the company also makes cookies and other baby- and toddler-friendly foods.
9. Ethel's Baking Co. Turtle Dandy Bars
One of the things you see a lot of at the GFAF Expo is gluten-free baked goods. But I have never seen anything like Ethel's Turtle Dandy Bars. Do you know what a turtle candy is? Doesn't matter. You have to have one of these concoctions. And then experience all of the other delicious offerings from Ethel's.
10. Pasta Legume
Last year it was all about the chickpea pasta from Banza, and this year it is all about pasta made from whole green lentils from Pasta Legume. Don't let the greenish color put you off. This pasta has 14 grams of protein and 17 grams of fiber in every serving. It comes in penne, elbows, and spirals.
11. Baked by Bibis Cookie Brittle
I don't know where the idea for cookie brittle came from, but it is a genius idea. And it's gluten-free! If you've never tried it, do yourself a favor and try one of the many delicious cookie brittle flavors from this gluten-free baked goods company.
12. Unreal candy
Yes, some candy is gluten-free. But not all candy is non-GMO. Unreal candy is, though. So if that's what you're looking for, then look no further. The Gems (pictured below) are like M&Ms, and they also make their own version of peanut butter cups. The colors are different from what you see in traditional candy because they're not using all those chemical dyes. Oh, and Tom Brady is a fan, so if my endorsement is not enough for you...
