Around the Mission - St. Ignace, MI

Here are a few layouts I made showing some of the sites in St. Ignace, Michigan. We stayed here during last year's vacation to Mackinac Island.

On our last evening in Michigan, my mom and I took a little walk along the St. Ignace Waterfront Huron Boardwalk and visited a few local museums and historic sites, including the Father Marquette Mission and Museum of Ojibwa Culture and the Wawatam Dock and Lighthouse.

These sites are great if you're a history buff, want to learn more about the town you're staying in, or just need an inexpensive and interesting way to kill some time. I highly recommend the boardwalk if the weather is nice. It's a good place to go for a little after-dinner walk or a morning run.

For such a small town, St. Ignace has a lot going on. It's a town that really tries to get its residents and visitors together. There are lots of upcoming events, so if you're planning on visiting this area this summer, take a look at the calendar and see if your visit coincides with any of the events.

And don't forget, every Saturday night from July 12 through September 6, there are fireworks!
