The Ragamuffin Bible - Book Review

I have been wanting to read something by Brennan Manning for a long time, but my library doesn't carry any of his books. So when I saw that his Ragamuffin Bible was available for review through BookSneeze, I jumped at the chance to review a free copy.

This NIV Bible offers a collection of Manning's grace-filled devotions, meditations, and reflections. So not only are you getting the complete Bible, you're also getting 104 devotions, 250 reflections, and 150 quotes, that offer insight into God's kingdom and guide you into a deeper connection with God and His word.

I love Bibles that take you one step further, and I really enjoy reading Manning's extras. Take, for instance, this gem that I came across while reading through Psalms:

"We do not perceive that we betray a basic lack of respect for the humanity of those with whom we deal, and this lack of respect is the essential problem with the use of authority in the church and in the home."

You probably already have a Bible or two on your bookshelf, but if you're constantly looking to further your relationship with God and/or gain new insight as you read/re-read the Bible, I would highly recommend the Ragamuffin Bible.
