Challenge YOUrself July Challenge - We Are Family - Scrapbook Process 248

It's the 7th of the month, which means it's time for the July challenge reveal at Challenge YOUrself! This month, we're asking you to scrapbook a photo of YOU on your layout and use the theme "we are family". You can enter your layout at the Challenge YOUrself blog for a chance to win a fabulous prize AND be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created.

Also, be sure to visit my YouTube channel to see the process video for this 12x12 scrapbook layout and see how it all came together!

For the family theme, I chose to scrapbook two photos of my daughter and me getting ready for her school's spring fling dance. One photo is of us in her room before the dance, and the second photo is of us at the dance. The PTO set up a photo opp as soon as you walked in and took everyone's pictures.

I liked the patterned papers from my June Best of Both Worlds Kit for this layout because the flowers reminded me of spring and the star paper fit the nighttime dance theme. As for the design of the layout, I was actually inspired by one of the Off the Board participants from last month. She started creating a layout in her process video like this, so as I was watching, I just let that design inspire me!

This is an easy design that you can recreate with any papers and embellishments that you already have in your stash!

I cut my photos down from 4x6 to 3.5x5 and then used a 3x4 cut-apart from Simple Stories to round out my trio of elements going across the page. The center photo is popped up on foam tape to make it stand out and give the layout some dimension.

I kept my embellishments on the diagonal line, creating a cluster in the top left and bottom right corners of the photo line. I did add in a few extra clusters at the top left of the cut-apart and at the bottom left of the middle photo. I just like embellishments clusters!

And that's it! Thanks for looking!
