Lady Editor Book Review

I really enjoyed reading about the life of Sarah Josepha Hale in the book Lady Editor, even if I didn't always like the way Melanie Kirkpatrick's biography was organized.

You probably have no idea who Sarah Josepha Hale was, even if you know of her contributions. She was the author of "Mary Had a Little Lamb", a champion of a national Thanksgiving Day, and a supporter of women's rights (to a point). Through her work as editor of a woman's magazine, she shaped the way women of the time dressed, cooked, and lived their lives.

I feel like this has been the year where I learn so much about women's history, from Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female MD, to all the female scientists from ancient times to today. If you're looking to expand your knowledge of women's contributions to society, then add this book to your list.

Lady Editor is published by Encounter Books and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
