Dare to Create! Book Review

If you're a scrapbooker, writer, painter, or any other creative type, you'll want to check out the creative challenges in Marie Boudon's book Dare to Create! 35 Challenges to Boost Your Creative Practice.

I definitely found some good advice that I can incorporate into my scrapbooking practice, and if you're subscribed to my YouTube channel, you might have seen a scrapbook layout I created based on the book's second challenge.

This book takes you through many different stages of the creative process, from just trying to get started to brainstorming ideas and finding inspiration from favorite artists and, ultimately, sharing your work and getting feedback.

My next task in my own practice is to complete challenge 6: Preparing your creative space. I do have my own scrap room, but it's messy and also serves as storage for other things. What I would really like to do is organize my tools better and give myself more space to create. I just can't seem to stop creating long enough to focus on where I'm creating. Ha ha.

This book also features interviews with different artists, from illustrators and graphic designers to watercolor painters and mixed media artists. It may seem like this book is geared toward those who work in the traditional "arts", but I think this could be interpreted for lots of different creative practices. Scrapbooking and cardmaking, of course, but also writing! I encourage you to pick up this book and see how it inspires you.

Dare to Create! 35 Challenges to Boost Your Creative Practice is published by Rocky Nook and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
