The Unofficial ALDI Cookbook Review

I'm not gonna lie - when I was growing up, there was one ALDI in my city, and we never went there, and I always thought it was like a welfare grocery store or something.

Little did I know.

These days, there is still only one ALDI near me, but it seems like everybody and their mother shops there. Why? For the amazing prices and delicious food! There's even a gluten-free food line!

While I still have not gotten myself over to ALDI (it's not really that close to me and I haven't been inside ANY grocery store since March 2020), my goal is to take at least one grocery shopping trip there this year and use The Unofficial ALDI Cookbook as my guide.

Created as an ode to the grocery store, author Jeanette Hurt shares a variety of recipes from breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to appetizers and beverages that all use products you can find at your local ALDI.

Now, do you have to shop at ALDI to appreciate this cookbook? Not at all! I made quite a few recipes from the cookbook using products purchased at my local ShopRite.

The Best Tuna Melt Ever was a hit and prompted my husband to go back for seconds. The Breakfast Hash Brown Casserole was an amazing quiche-esque delight, despite me having to bake it 30 minutes longer than the recipe called for. The Pot Roast Soup was spot on. And while my 5-year-old did not want to eat the Turkey Meatloaf, it was surprisingly easy to make and so good, even if I did buy the wrong type of gluten-free oats.

I've bookmarked so many of the recipes in this cookbook. It's not a huge cookbook, but it's filled with a lot of recipes that are sure to please you and your family, no matter if you're gluten-free and/or dairy-free.

The Unofficial ALDI Cookbook is published by Ulysses Press and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy in exchange for this review.
