If you've been reading the blog, then you know how many books I've been reading on plant-based diets. Cut out the meat. Cut out the dairy. It's better for your body, and it's better for the planet.
Eat Like You Give a Fork by Mareyah Ibrahim is no exception. And she lays out an eight-step plan to retrain your mind and body to think about food. It also helps that there are TONS of recipes in this book. I bookmarked 45 to try among categories such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts.
As a family who eats gluten-free due to Celiac Disease, I was happy to see a section of the book dedicated to gluten-free super grains! And I also like that as someone who is lactose-intolerant, I didn't have to worry so much about recipes containing milk or cheese.
One of the habits I need to get into is meal prep. Spending an hour on grocery store days prepping all of our vegetables and fruit will really save me time during the week and make it more likely that we'll eat what we bought. I'm tired of contributing to food waste in this country.
What else can I say about this brilliant cookbook? There are just so many good tips and delicious recipes that I cannot wait to make. I know it's hard right now to get all the groceries we need because of the COVID-19 pandemic. (It took me two weeks just to get eggplant.) But I think there's still enough good information and recipes in this book to get my family started. Sure I've read similar books: VB6, The Cheat Diet, Eat Live Thrive Diet, I Quit Sugar, and Your Healthiest Healthy. But I haven't been able to stick to any of the diets.
Will I be able to eat like I give a fork now that I've read this book?
Eat Like You Give a Fork is published by St. Martin's Griffin and is on bookstore shelves now. I received a free digital copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
