Best Educational Games for Preschoolers

Stuck at home with young kids? Wondering how to keep the learning fun going during this quarantine?

Today I'm sharing three educational preschool games that have been a lifesaver for me and my daughter.

The first game is Veggie Farm Sorting Set from Learning Resources. This one requires parent-child interaction to help kids ages 3 and up practice sorting, counting, and more. It comes with a parent guide and suggested activities, such as matching up all the different veggies by color and playing a "which one is different and why" game.

If you're kid is anything like mine, she'll also just enjoy roleplay with the veggies, placing them in and out of the barrels. Hey, that helps with fine motor skills!

Another great game that plays more like a traditional game is The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game from Educational Insights. In this game, players take turns spinning the spinner and adding colorful acorns to their tree trunks. Trick is, you've got to pick up the acorns using super cute squirrel-shaped tweezers. And watch out for the wind - if the spinner lands on it, all your acorns go back in the box.

My daughter doesn't always like using the squirrel tweezers. But I try to get her to practice with them at least once or twice while we play.

Another fun game is Count Your Chickens from Peaceable Kingdom. This board game is a cooperative game, meaning all players work together to get the chicks into the hen house. Spin the spinner to see how many spaces you move on the board, and then place that number of chicks into the hen house. If you make it to the end of the board and all the chicks are back home, you win. If not, the fox wins.

My daughter loves playing this one. It's a great way to help her practice counting, and it plays very quickly. She also loves playing with the game pieces after we finish a game.

What games do you and your kids like to play? How are you passing the time while stuck at home?
