Summer Camp at Home - Week 3: Father's Day

Hopefully, everyone is out of school by Father's Day, right? RIGHT? I know schools go super late here in New Jersey, while in other states, kids are out by the beginning of June!

So whether Father's Day is your third or first week of summer break, here's a Father's Day-themed week of activities for you!

Father's Day Thumbs Up Card

You'll probably want to have this Father's Day Thumbs Up Card created before Father's Day. It's a fun, crafty activity that also results in a super cute card and keepsake. You can follow the directions from Easy Peasy and Fun, but I also think it's super intuitive to figure out just by looking at the picture.

And if you want more Father's Day card ideas, check out my Father's Day Pinterest board!

Books About Dads

There's no better activity than reading, especially when kids can read with their dad. Babies to Bookworms has a list of 10 Great Books to Celebrate Dads.

And don't forget to check YouTube for read-alouds of any books your library doesn't have.

Glow in the Dark Bubbles

While this doesn't have anything to do with dads, it could be a fun outdoor activity for kids and dads to do together! Growing a Jeweled Rose has all the details for Glow-in-the-Dark Bubbles. You just need water, dish soap, and glow-in-the-dark or fluorescent paint.

Puffy Sidewalk Paint

Decorate your driveway with dad-themed messages and images with Puffy Sidewalk Paint that you mix up yourself! The Best Ideas for Kids has all the details. The only thing you might not already have in your arts and crafts stash are those plastic condiment bottles.

Jell-O Popsicles

Share a special treat with dad on Father's Day when you make Jell-O Popsicles! I like this recipe from Poofy Cheeks because it's so easy, and you can pick whatever Jell-O flavor you want!

All About Dad Printables

I've got several of these "all about dad" printables pinned to my Father's Day Pinterest board, so check them out and find one that you like best. (There are even some Grandpa ones!) One of my favorites is a Father's Day Tie Card from Paper Trail Designs. It's shaped like a tie, has space for kids to answer questions about their dad, and makes a really nice keepsake.
