How to Eat More Plants Book Review

If you've been a follower of my blog, you'll know that I'm constantly trying to get my family to eat more plants. I've gone through several cookbooks aimed at plant-based eating, vegan eating, etc. So I was excited about How to Eat More Plants by Dr. Megan Rossi because her "diversity diet" isn't about ONLY eating plants; it's about eating a diverse diet that also includes some meat products.

While the second half of the book includes 80 fiber-packed recipes that you'll want to make right away, don't skip the first half! The first half is where you learn about the importance of eating more plants: healthy gut, healthy body, healthy mind - yes, it's all connected!

You'll also learn about the 28-day challenge to easily add more fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, herbs, and more into your diet. It all counts toward "Plant Points". You'll want 30 Plant Points per week or eating 30 different plants per week.

Don't worry if you have food allergies or sensitivities. Rossi does address some of this in her book, and there are plenty of grain options, for instance, that are gluten-free and count toward your Plant Points.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but they run the gamut from breakfast, lunch, and dinner to snacks, drinks, and desserts. I think my family will start with the book's family/kid-friendly meal plan, but you can also choose the Busy People meal plan or the Sensitive Gut meal plan to guide you through one week of meals and snack ideas using recipes from the book.

I love the design of this book and the idea behind it. There's a graphic in the book that shows some of the options of fiber-rich plant food, and it's so much more than you think! This book could really change the way you eat and how you feel.

How to Eat More Plants is published by The Experiment and will be available in paperback tomorrow. I received a free review copy from the publisher.
