Make Your Mess Your Message Book Review

There's no better way to start the new year than with inspiring stories from women who have found purpose out of struggle and hardship. And that's what Shari Leid's book Make Your Mess Your Message provides; 51 "life lessons" - one for each week of the year.

You'll read about single moms, women with debilitating diseases, women who have lost loved ones, and more. At the end of chapter, there is space for you to journal your own take-aways from each woman's message and consider your own past (or present) messes and how you can turn them around and make something great.

Ideally, you'll read one chapter a week. I read one chapter a day in an effort to make it pretty far through the book before writing this review. And ideally, you'll take on your own challenge of having "dates" with your friends to ask them about what mess became their message.

Most of Leid's "dates" with her friends happened via Zoom due to this book being written during the height of the COVID pandemic. But what was more surprising to me than Leid making this book work during such a stressful time was the fact that she had 51 friends to include! How does she know so many women? (Maybe I need to read her first book The 50/50 Friendship Flow to figure out how to deepen friendships.)

I think this book would be great for a book club, especially if you meet once a week. Of ask your best gal pal to get a copy and read it together, checking in every so often on how each of you are doing meeting your challenges and goals.

Make Your Mess Your Message is published by Capucia, LLC, and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy from the publisher.
