Higher Self-Expression Book Review

Jeff Carreira's new book Higher Self-Expression: How to Become an Artist of Possibility wants readers to look at the world with an open mind, to be open to the possibilities that are out there so that we can reach our full genius potential.

Of course, reading the book also requires you to have an open mind.

Carreira uses his own experience with meditation and spiritual enlightenment to show readers what is possible, and he juxtaposes that with the experiences and writings of past Artists of Possibility such as Gertrude Stein, Anais Nin, William James, Philip K. Dick, and more.

One of the things I took away from the book is that we get so accustomed to doing things a certain way or believing a certain thing to be true just because that's the way it's always been done or that's the method of thinking that's been passed down to us.

But what if there are other options?

What are we missing by not asking questions, exploring, and freeing our minds?

When we break free from our normal routines, "life wakes us up" (121).

I underlined a lot of passages in the book, but that's not to say that I totally understood everything the author was trying to express. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk that up to my mind not being fully open to understanding all of these new concepts. This book might be one to read through a few times or read slowly to fully focus on each chapter's theme.

Higher Self-Expression is published by Emergence Education Press and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
