As someone who definitely struggles with "imposter syndrome", I was excited to read Rita Clifton's book Love Your Imposter. It even had an endorsement from Hilary Clinton on the cover!
While I enjoyed Clifton's sometimes stream-of-consciousness and most often conversational writing, this just wasn't the book I thought it was going to be.
If you're in traditional business (marketing, finance, economics, etc.), then you might find some of Clifton's advice helpful as you navigate your career in those fields.
I also very much agree with Clifton that more women are needed in leadership roles, but imposter syndrome prevents too many of us ladies from going after them.
It's just that sometimes, I felt like Clifton was losing the point of the book and not really offering general advice of navigating your way through imposter syndrome in all facets of your life.
There were a few passages that I highlighted: such as being clear about what your personal brand stands for, learning lessons from every life experience/job, never make assumptions, "think stretch rather thank fake", practice your public speaking, and have a hobby outside of work.
I didn't really finish the book feeling satisfied, but I did enjoy reading about Clifton's own stories (both good and bad) of her own journey up the corporate ladder.
Love Your Imposter is published by Kogan Page and is on bookstore shelves now. I received a free review copy.
