Deep Flavors Cookbook Review

The holidays are here, and maybe you need to keep kosher or maybe you're just looking to up your cooking game. No one knows food and its flavors better than Kenneth M. Horwitz. In his new cookbook Deep Flavors, Horwitz shares recipes that his family has created and modified for the most flavorful results.

This cookbook isn't organized in a traditional cookbook style. You won't find one recipe per page with short bullet point notes for ingredients and directions. That's not to say that following the recipes is confusing or making them will be hard. It's just something to keep in mind if you're used to the way it's done in other cookbooks.

Horwitz will be the first to tell you that Deep Flavors is not like other cookbooks. As he writes in the preface: "This book is more than just a recipe compendium; it is meant to be read."

So, yes, there might be several paragraphs before you get to the ingredients for Barbecue Sauce, but if you read all of those paragraphs, you might learn some background on the sauce. And you'll want to read all the notes to make sure your Chocolate Pinwheel Cake tastes as good as the way Horwitz's mom made it. He's not just sharing recipes with you; he's sharing cooking wisdom. This cookbook is just as deep as the flavors you'll get from its recipes.

Deep Flavors is published by Inspire On Purpose Publishing and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
