Modern Manners for Moms and Dads - Book Review

My first word of advice regarding the book Modern Manners for Moms and Dads is that even though the cover says this is for "Moms and Dads", pay attention to what the book spine says: "with kids 0 to 5". If that's not you, as it almost isn't for me anymore, then you might not find many relevant topics within this book's 344 pages.

However, if you are expecting your first or have young children and want to know what you should REALLY be doing in certain social situations, then you'll find this book by Sarah Davis, Ed.D. and Evie Granville, M.Ed. very helpful.

Each chapter tackles a different parenting etiquette topic: from making new mom friends to dealing with picky eaters. I thought the chapters on personal appearance, social media, and school were most applicable to my stage in motherhood. Of course, I wish I would have read this book five years ago...

The book also helps you identify your parenting style through a quiz that you can take in the book or online at the Modern Manners website. I'm a Crescent, apparently, although I do also identify with the Constellations from time to time. And sometimes, I couldn't really see myself in any of the parenting style examples given at the end of each chapter. So I'm not sure if the styles they've created are too rigid or if I'm just too much of a mix.

I'd love to hear what your parenting style is, so go take the quiz and report back to me! Let's compare notes!

Modern Manners for Moms and Dads is published by Mango and is on bookstore shelves now. I received a free review copy.
