Alphabet Summer Letter M Week Recap

Morning! Let me tell you about all the Marvelous things we did during our Letter M week!

But first, make sure you follow my Kid School and Alphabet Summer Pinterest boards for even more learning fun.

We started the week by reading Monster Manners and doing our usual dot marker page, letter M words, and letter tracing. Then I refashioned an element from our Sago Mini subscription box and some alphabet bingo letters I had made earlier in the summer to play a Feed the Monster game. I called out what letter the monster was hungry for, and my kid had to find it and put it in the monster's mouth.

Tuesday we read If You Give a Moose a Muffin, did some activities in the companion printable from Teaching with Children's Books, and then we made these Easy Chocolate Chip Muffins from Crafty for Home! And in the nick of time, too, because that afternoon, Tropical Storm Isaias blew through and knocked out our power... until Wednesday night!

Luckily, I had already printed out all the printables we'd be needing for this week's lesson, so Wednesday morning we were able to read our own copy of Millie Moo, color in face masks on these printable coloring pages from Hello Wonderful, and then do some Moana activities and games from this free downloadable Moana activity pack that had come out in advance of the movie's release way back when. My kid loves Moana, and Moana starts with the letter M, so...

I had to cobble some stuff together for Thursday because I had originally been scheduled to go into work, but thanks to the Tropical Storm, the trains were suspended for tree cleanup. That meant, along with our power, kid school was back on Thursday! So we read Are You My Mother? and did a mommy and cow coloring page along with a match the chick to its mommy tracing page from a farm-themed sticker book my dad sent us several weeks ago. It wasn't much to keep my kid busy, but then we watched TV because she hadn't watched any in 36 hours.

Friday morning we read Max's Dragon Shirt, which featured Max and Ruby, and then we attempted a letter of the day worksheet. I was saving the better activity for lunch time: field trip to McDonald's!

We read There Was an Old Monster on Saturday morning, and then used a make your own monster printable from Scholastic with a Roll the Dice Monster game to create our own monster. After that, I got her to play the Moana matching game that I'd printed out for Wednesday.

And Sunday's plan is to read The Monster at the End of This Book, do marble painting, and practice our scissor skills so we can cut out the pieces for a fruit-matching game.

What other letter M activities can you think of?
