Forks Over Knives Family Cookbook - Book Review

I received a free review copy of the Forks Over Knives Family Cookbook because as you know, my goal is to eat more plant-based. This cookbook offers tips for transitioning your family to a plant-based diet, from birth and on. It would be especially good for pregnant woman to read because the first two chapters deal with what to eat while pregnant and what to feed your newborn. (A regular Forks Over Knives book is also available.)

The other chapters were more relevant to me, as I have a 4-year-old and no plans to get pregnant again. So I jumped in at chapter 3 and then read on to all the recipes.

I like that the authors don't expect perfection because I know that I would let myself indulge when eating out or when on vacation, even though the book has tips and tricks for sticking to your diet in those situations. I simply want to cut back on the meat we eat and get my family on a better health track.

Out of the 125 recipes in this book, there are several that I don't think we can make because they aren't gluten-free or aren't easy to make gluten-free, so keep that in mind if your dietary needs are also dairy-free and gluten-free. But I am going to do my best with some of the others, such as Baked Ziti, Lentil Shepherd's Pie, Orange n Berry Ice Pops, and Chocolate Pie.

You can also watch a Forks Over Knives documentary on Netflix! It's along the same lines as a Food, Inc. or Super-Size Me, and it features the doctors who wrote this book!

Forks Over Knives Family Cookbook is published by Atria Books and is on bookstore shelves now. I received a free PDF version for review.
