It's a Great Big Colorful World - Children's Book Review

Tom Schamp's It's a Great Big Colorful World is a rainbow explosion of color, fun facts, and charming illustrations for young readers (and old).

The day starts off gray, but soon changes to black, white, yellow, orange, red, pink, blue, green, and brown, until all the colors come together. And along the way, you'll see ballerinas in pink tutus and a giant orange and black tiger, and learn that bulls are color blind, orange clay tennis courts are made of crushed bricks, and just how many yummy foods are yellow.

There's so much to discover on every page that you won't read this book the same way twice. My 4-year-old daughter had fun pointing out her favorite images (she thought the book's version of The Incredible Hulk was pretty cool) as we read and re-read the book.

For the youngest readers, this book is a fun way to introduce colors. But as kids get older, there's so much extra information for them to absorb. This will be a keeper on your bookshelf for a long time.

It's a Great Big Colorful World is published by Prestel Publishing and is on bookstore shelves now. I received a free review copy.
