You might notice a theme for this month's books: climate change. If you remember my post a few days ago where I talked about my National Novel Writing Month novel, then you'll know I'm trying to educate myself on a topic that is important to my story. So I did a Google search on "best books about climate change", and here's what I ended up getting.

You can hear more about these books in my January To-Read video.

The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert
Could people be the next group to go extinct?

The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan
What happens if we lose the water in the Great Lakes? This is just one possible effect of climate change.

Drawdown edited by Paul Hawken
100 solutions for the crisis of climate change. The subtitle is "The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming".

This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein
Klein posits that capitalism is the real cause of climate change. A different perspective than one I've been taught. And apparently, it's now a documentary. I'll have to look that up.

The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells
The subtitle is "Life After Warming". So what happens after climate change? This could definitely inform the novel I'm trying to write.

The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi
I've had this book since I got a copy at BookExpo 2015. This is the lone fiction book in this pile. I decided that I needed to read some fiction in the middle of all this non-fiction. The novel actually deals with a nationwide drought and a man who "cuts" water to keep his boss's garden looking lush. So I'm feeling like this might also fit in with my theme.
