I'm super proud of myself: I finished all my October to-read books! No leftovers. That means I can jump right in to this month's pack of books. There are some fiction, some memoir, and some self-help, so it's a good mix to choose from depending on how I'm feeling week to week.

You can also see me talk more about these books in this YouTube video!

Sweetbitter - Stephanie Danler
This book has been on my list for awhile. I tried to get my old book club to read it, but it didn't get picked. It was also made into a TV show that I never watched, so that won't affect my perception of the book or not. It's about a woman who works in the food industry and what life is like for a young person in New York in that industry.

Dimestore: A Writer's Life - Lee Smith
Because it's National Novel Writing Month, I figured I'd make some headway on my to-read list and pick up this memoir by a writer. This will be my first Lee Smith, so maybe I should also read more from this author.

The Intuitive Parent - Stephen Camarata
I picked up this book at BookExpo a few years ago. I figure that now I'm actually a parent, I should probably read a book about parenting. Better late than never!

Women Are Scary - Melanie Dale
This is a re-read. I reviewed this book while pregnant, but now that I'm in the throes of motherhood and seeking other mom friends, I figure I should go back through this book and put into practice some of Dale's tips.

Unfriendly Fire - Nathaniel Frank
If you watched my two-part YouTube series about the Oldest Books On My TBR, then you'll see I talked about this book, which is FINALLY making it onto my actual to-read list after nine years. I'm sure a lot of information has changed over the years, but I'm still interested in reading the book to see just how far we've come in terms of gay people in the military.

High School - Tegan and Sara
I received my pre-ordered copy of this memoir when it came out last month. I'm really excited to read it because I've been a fan of Tegan and Sara for years. (Ask me some time about the time I bought a magazine in England that had them on the cover.) I also met them and got their autograph at BookCon this year, which was really cool, even if I was totally awkward.

No Plot? No Problem! - Chris Baty
As I said before, it's National Novel Writing Month. I'll be using this book to guide me through 30 days of writing. Wish me luck!

Taste and See - Margaret Feinberg
I've been a fan of Margaret Feinberg since first reviewing one of her books way back in 2013. When I heard she had a book out that was part cookbook and part spiritual journey, I was like, "Sign me up!" Luckily, my library had a copy in its system, and so here we are. What I should really do is just buy ALL of her books. That would make me very happy.

These are the books on my to-read list for this month. What are you guys reading?
