I would like to preface this by saying that Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of the late Billy Graham, and I do not have much in common, especially when it comes to beliefs. But I was able to put aside our differences in order to read a free advance review copy of her new book Jesus In Me. The subtitle of the book is "Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion".

I wasn't sure what that meant before I started to read this book. Basically, the "Jesus in me" is the Holy Spirit, the less-often talked about part of the Trinity. I certainly don't remember hearing the Holy Spirit talked about much when I attended Sunday School as a kid. Most of the focus is on God and Jesus. Lotz argues that the Holy Spirit is an important part of the Christian experience, as the Holy Spirit dwells within us and helps us in a multitude of ways.

Don't think you have the Holy Spirit in you? (Don't worry. Me either.) The back of the book is divided into appendices with information on how to invite the Holy Spirit into your life and go through a personal revival.

One of the things I liked about this book was Lotz's suggestions of how to Bible journal. I believe there are worksheets at her website that you can download. I plan on using these as a way to streamline my own daily devotional experience and hopefully get more out of it.

Jesus In Me is published by Multnomah and is on bookstore shelves today. I received a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
