So here's how the book works. The focus is on the Lord's Prayer. You know. "Our father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, etc."? Each day you read through a short prayer and there is also an accompanying picture to illustrate what the prayer means. I liked interpreting what the picture meant, and I wonder if other readers will interpret them differently.
Every seven days or so in the book, there is a longer essay that takes a part of the Lord's Prayer and expounds on what it really means. And at the end of these essays, there are a few questions for personal reflection.
I've been liking this book so far because 1. doing the devotionals doesn't take much time and 2. there are a variety of aspects to the book. If you're a visual learner, you'll like the inclusion of artwork. If you need help instigating prayer time in your life, these prayers make it easy to figure out what to say to God. And if you want a little more substance, the essays give you a longer-form type of devotional that also strengthens your understanding of something you've probably grown up saying without even really thinking about it.
May It Be So is published by Waterbrook and is on bookstore shelves today. I received a free ARC for my honest review.
