Banana Baby Scrapbook Page

Today I've got a scrapbook page to share with you that I created based on the May challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. It was a Blend a Sketch Challenge with the additional requirement to add wood veneers. So what that means is that two sketches were provided, and we had to use inspiration from both sketches.

What I liked about the first sketch was a pattern of horizontal and vertical lines on the left-hand side of the sketch. So I created my own take on that with ribbon and cut-aparts from a really fun paper pad that I picked up at Michael's for $5. Those were my horizontal lines. My vertical lines were a journaling cut-apart from the paper pad and then an ephemera piece from the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection.

The second sketch had a four-square grid behind a single photo, and at first I was going to copy that grid exactly, but then I decided to take my picture and make it part of the grid. From there, I squished everything so that the patterned paper squares were more of a backdrop for the photo as opposed to a grid alongside the photo.

The second sketch also had two large parentheses on it, so I took two small parentheses from my Heidi Swapp alpha stickers sheet and included those on my layout.

And for my wood veneers, I used some Valentine's Day-themed Creative Embellishments wood hearts that came in my Kisses and Snowflakes kit from The International Scrapbook Garden.

And that's it! This is a picture of my daughter eating a whole banana all by herself - no cutting it up into slices. I was so excited that I had banana paper from this paper pad! What a perfect fit. Thanks for looking!

If you want to play along with the Scrap Our Stash challenge, you have until May 29. There is a prize up for grabs!

  1. Fun take on the "Blend-A-Sketch" challenge. I really like how you explained how you went about using items from both sketches. How neat that you were able to find that cute banana pattern paper. It's perfect for this layout. I, for one, love those Recollection paper pads. I have quite a few of them myself. I really like those days of the week letters, and how you thought out-of-the-box and used small little parentheses instead of the large one on the sketch. Really well done. TFS. ☺
