Schick Hydro Silk Razor - Review & Giveaway

Ladies, can we just be honest? Shaving our legs and armpits is kind of annoying. It's time-consuming. Good razors can be expensive. But we do it anyway.

A few years ago, I got the chance to review a Venus razor, which I've been using exclusively ever since. I know the cartridge refills are expensive, but I try to wait until Target puts them on sale and/or I have a coupon before buying more.

Because of the expense, I'm always open to other razors that might offer the same benefits as the Venus razor but at a discounted price. So when I received an invite from BzzAgent to review the new Schick Hydro Silk Razor for free, I decided to give this razor a chance and see how it compared to my beloved Venus.

The Schick Hydro Silk Razor is made for sensitive skin. It has hypoallergenic moisturizing serum infused with shea butter, five curve-sensing blades, and skin guards. One razor comes with two blade cartridges, and then you buy more cartridges separately. Sounds good, right?

My first time using the Schick Hydro Silk was not a good experience. I nicked myself SEVERAL times! And that NEVER happens with my Venus razor. Seriously, I haven't nicked myself in YEARS since using the Venus razor.

But I continued to give the Schick Hydro Silk a shot. After dulling the blade a bit by shaving my armpits over the course of a week or two, I went back to shaving my legs with the razor and didn't nick myself at all.

I also used the coupon I received for a free can of Skintimate SkinTherapy shaving gel to see if that would make a difference when used with the Schick Hydro Silk Razor. Full disclosure: I used Skintimate shaving gel a loooooong time ago and had to stop using it because it really irritated my skin. But the stuff I got this time was for sensitive skin, so I had high hopes that it wouldn't leave me with little red bumps all over my legs.

Well, I didn't have red bumps all over my legs. But I did get another nick on my knee. It takes quite a lot of shaving gel to get a good lather going, and for something that is designed for sensitive skin, I wish it didn't contain fragrance as fragrance is something that can bother sensitive skin.

All in all, I'm not completely sold on Schick Hydro Silk Razor. I think I'll stick to my trusty Venus razor, BUT if you want to give this new razor a chance for yourself, I've got coupons to give away! I'll randomly pick two lucky commenters as winners, and you have from now until February 22 to enter by leaving a comment below. *Please make sure to leave me your email address or have a Google+ account so that I can easily contact you if you win. If I have no way of contacting you, you will be disqualified.* Good luck!

This giveaway is only open to residents of the contiguous 48 states - no Hawaii, Alaska, or international entries. Sorry!

  1. Try everthing once and the good things twice is my advice. A gratis coupon to try the item would be an incentive I would be grateful for.
