There is a blog post up at My Paper Tree House about being statues of salt. If you are familiar with the Bible, you might know the story of Lot's wife (don't you love how she doesn't get a name?) who, while leaving Sodom and Gomorrah with her family, looks back on the city against the advice of the angels and turns into salt - a statue of salt, to be precise.
The blog post was about how those of us living in present time often "look back" on things, not realizing how paralyzing such an action can be on our lives. If we spend all our time looking back on the past, we become like statues, never able to move forward with our lives.
Nana, My Paper Tree House owner, challenged us to create a layout "to show where you are right now with the Lord and how it is the Lord has taken you out of the statue state." So, of course, I got right to work.
My layout isn't so much a story of how I've gotten past the statue state. Rather it's just a reminder for me to not get so caught up in the "what if's" and "why didn't I's" and "Let's rehash this scenario over and over again's" that can haunt us from time to time. Learn from your mistakes, your past experiences, your great triumphs, and keep moving forward.
The journaling on the baggage tag (which I got and saved from my old church, like, months ago) reads: "Don't look back. What happened happened. You made your choices and whether or not you feel like you did it all right or all wrong, nothing can be changed. So stop looking back and move forward."
The Bible verse in the bottom right-hand corner is from Luke 9:62 and it reads: "But Jesus said to him, 'No one having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.'"

What an amazing challenge! Kudos to you for a brave layout! I wish I had your courage to say what I wish I could about the past, present and future!
