More Than a Mom Book Review

As moms, we hear a lot about self-care and self-love. We know that we can't properly care for our family if we aren't taking care of ourselves first. Kari Kampakis' book More Than a Mom takes a look at what the concepts of "self-care" and "self-love" look like when viewed through a Christian lens.

If you're a religious mom or you know someone who is, then this book would make a great Mother's Day gift. Kampakis takes you through some timeless truths so that you can know your own strength and take advantage of God's power in your life. Of course, moms need rest, but we also need to stop negative self-talk, set boundaries (it's okay to say NO), and know our worth and purpose.

The end of each chapter offers reflection questions for the reader to answer on her own, but I would highly recommend reading this book as part of a book club of Bible study! What better way to build strong and uplifting friendships (something else that moms need) than through a monthly gathering of other like-minded women?

I dog-eared many pages in my copy of the book (especially in the friendship chapter) and will be going back to answer all of the questions and possibly even doing some scrapbook layouts about them for my Book of Me.

More Than a Mom is published by Thomas Nelson and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
