Chocolate Chip Cookie Paper Plate Craft for Kids

The other week, when I had zero library books, I decided to pick a "kid school" theme from our home library. And after perusing Pinterest for a little bit, the winning book was If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff.

This book is a classic for a reason. Kids love the silly antics that the mouse gets up to, and who doesn't love a story about chocolate chip cookies?

I've created a whole If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Pinterest board with lots of ideas and activities for your own Kid School. And to find more fun kid craft ideas, check out my 5 craft ideas for kids post on Zulily.

Here is just one of the things (aside from making a batch of real chocolate chip cookies) that we did: paper plate cookie!

I always have paper plates on hand because they can be used for a variety of crafts. This one was super simple.

  1. Color in the plate brown. Or glue on squares of brown tissue paper or construction paper. Or paint it brown!
  2. Use a cotton swab and paint on black dots for the chocolate chips.
That's it! So easy! Kids can add as many "chocolate chips" as they want, and painting with a cotton swab is a different experience than using a traditional paintbrush. You probably already have cotton swabs in your bathroom!

This is just one easy arts and crafts activity for kids, but for more ideas, be sure to check out my list of craft ideas for kids on the Zulily blog.
