July 2019 To-Read List

There are nine books on my July To-Read List! It's a nice collection of advance review copies and library books. I'm supposed to be reading Michelle Obama's Becoming for a book club this month, but I'm still on the waiting list for it at the library. Fingers crossed that I get it in time!

In the meantime, you can check out what I'm reading in this video and read more about each book below.

Here Now by Kate Merrick
I picked up this book at BookCon. It's all about letting go of distractions (smartphones, TV, etc.) and focusing on being "here, now".

Less by Andrew Sean Greer
The main character of this Pulitzer Prize-winning novel receives an invitation to his ex's wedding, and then the story follows his journey to avoid going to the wedding. I think this will be a great summer read!

I.M. by Isaac Mizrahi
Not sure how much appeal this memoir will have to just anyone, but I'm a huge fan of fashion designer and lifestyle brand-ist Isaac Mizrahi. Does anyone else remember when he debuted a fashion collection at Target back in the day? I can't wait to read this autobiography!

Stranger Things: Runaway Max by Brenna Yovanoff
I've only just begun watching Stranger Things on Netflix, so I don't know who this Max character is, but if you know and you want to read a prequel about her life, then you might enjoy this young adult-geared novel. It comes out this month, timed to the season 3 premiere of the show.

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This is book one in a new young adult sci-fi series. It came out in May, so I'm a little behind in reading and reviewing it, but I'm looking forward to see what new world and characters these two authors have created.

Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
My husband just finished reading this memoir by the comedian because he assigned it to his students for their summer reading. Before returning it to the library, I'm going to read it!

Pet Sematary by Stephen King
I realized that there are a lot of Stephen King books that I've never read, so I'm getting things going with this classic. Maybe I'll also watch the movie version when I'm done.

No Ocean Too Wide by Carrie Turansky
I received a free Netgalley copy of this book through the Waterbrook and Multnomah book reviewers program. Everyone who was part of the launch team has really liked this book, so I'm looking forward to checking out this work of historical fiction.

The Nature Fix by Florence Williams
I'm starting the month with this book, which was a book club pick from Simple Scrapper. It's all about the benefits and effects that being out in nature can have on us. Sign me up!
