Play Together Book Review

Through my job, I'm a Genius of Play Ambassador for the Toy Industry Association. This means that I spread the word about the value of play. And Laura Haver's book Play Together is a perfect example of  how play benefits both kids and adults, with lots of play ideas, too!

Inspired by keeping her kids engaged during the Covid-19 pandemic, Laura and her family came up with a new game to play together each day. She shared those games on social media, and now 62 of those games and activities are bound into this book for you! You'll find a variety of activities that spark kindness, inspire creativity, encourage movement, promote connection, and boost mindfulness.

I know that summer is almost over, and the kids are going back to school, but there's still time to try out some of these games and activities with what little summertime you have left or on the weekends when kids are complaining of boredom.

Just remember to always let your kids lead. Even though a game is "supposed to" be played a certain way doesn't mean it has to be played that way. Laura found that her kids usually had new ideas to change up the gameplay or really good ideas for their own games. I think you'll be surprised at the ideas your kids will come up with!

Play Together is published by Hatherleigh and is available to purchase now. I received a free review copy.
