5 Reese's-Inspired Recipes That are Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free

Is there anything better than the combination of peanut butter and chocolate? (If you ask my picky eater 6-year-old, the answer is "yes".)

I love, love, love peanut butter and chocolate, but since becoming lactose-intolerant, I can't eat the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or Eggs or whatever other shape they make them in for holidays. But I can make my own gluten-free and dairy-free versions at home.

Here are some of my favorite Reese's-inspired recipes, from traditional peanut butter cups or bars to a peanut butter and chocolate cake!

1. Almond Butter Chocolate Eggs

I made these delicious Reese's-inspired "eggs" around Easter. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and so delicious. It was a little awkward making the egg shape out of the peanut butter batter because I didn't have an egg-shaped cookie cutter, but I may have to invest in one because I really want to make these again. Of course, you could just cut these into bars and get the same yummy taste.

2. No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Much like the almond butter eggs above, these bars are gluten-free and vegan. All you need are four ingredients: peanut butter, coconut flour, maple syrup, and dairy-free chocolate chips. It's really almost the same recipe as the almond butter eggs above, except you're using regular creamy peanut butter instead of almond butter.

3. Flourless Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cake

I made this cake as a joint dessert for Mother's Day and my anniversary. Boy is it rich! I'd recommend cutting small slices and enjoying with a scoop of lactose-free vanilla ice cream. The Unreal Snacks dairy-free and gluten-free peanut butter cups on top were a nice touch.

4. Healthy Reese's Oatmeal

I am going to eat this easy oatmeal recipe every morning for breakfast until I get sick of it, which will hopefully be never. You could easily use gluten-free oats if you need to, though I just used regular oats. Mix in sugar or a sugar substitute (I use Swerve) and almond milk, then microwave! Once hot and bubbly, stir in the peanut butter and top with some dairy-free chocolate chips. This is so easy to make, tastes great, and is very filling. (Just be sure to cut the recipe in half if you're only making one serving for yourself.)

5. ShopRite Vegan Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

This recipe for peanut butter bars came at just the right time! These were easy to make, and they use some different ingredients than the other bars: pitted dates, peanuts, and dairy-free dark chocolate morsels. I literally made this on a Saturday and then the whole tray was gone by Tuesday. These were soft and addicting!
