Now that summer is finally here, let's read some fun picture books about summer! If you've got preschoolers or early elementary children, these summer books for kids are some of the best books about summer to read during this season.

All Around Bustletown: Summer by Rotraut Susanne Berner
We have all four of the Bustletown books, and it's so fun to go through each one (one for each season) to see how the town changes and what its inhabitants are up to. You can follow specific characters through each page and make up stories about them or use the book as a search-and-find. There is always something new to discover.
Mama, Is It Summer Yet? by Nikki McClure
In this picture book, a little boy can't wait until summer, but it's not summer yet. His mother points out how nature is changing from spring to summer, encouraging kids to seek out the same changes in their own backyard.
And Then Comes Summer by Tom Brenner and Jaime Kim
This is another book that talks about all the signs of summer: fireworks, ice cream trucks, lemonade stands, and camping. You might even get ideas for how to spend your summer vacation!
