Domestication

Here I am in my PJs doing laundry on a Saturday night and watching 48 Hours: Hard Evidence (three teens get high on LSD and kill one teen's mom; lesson: never have children).

Just wanted to share a recipe that I made last week. I was reading a magazine and saw this Hillshire Farm ad that had four recipes on it. The recipe for Cheesy Potatoes with Smoked Sausage sounded good to me and we already had most of the ingredients in our fridge, so I was like, "Awesome! Let's do this!" And here's how you can do this:

Cheesy Potatoes with Smoked Sausage adapted from Hillshire Farm recipe
Ingredients:
1 package Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage
1 bag Ore Ida frozen hash browns (put the bag in the fridge during the day so they are sort of defrosted by the time you make dinner)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 13-by-9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. (Some nonstick cooking sprays are not gluten-free. I always wipe the pans down with butter. Put a plastic baggie over your hand, dip it in the butter tub, and then rub the butter into the pan. Hand stays mess-free.)

2. Cut sausage into 1/2-inch cubes. Combine all ingredients in large bowl.

3. Spread mixture evenly in prepared pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until lightly browned.

I don't have a picture of this b/c I forgot to take one, but oh boy. It's delicious. My favorite things in life - meat, cheese, and potatoes. YEAH!!!!

While not cooking new recipes, I've been watching a lot of Bewitched. It seems that every time I turn on the TV, TV Land is running a Bewitched marathon (the classic TV show, not the stupid movie version). I've decided that I don't want to be a witch (I can't wiggle my nose), but instead, I want to own Samantha Stevens' wardrobe.

You can't really tell from this picture just how awesome Samantha Stevens always looked (I couldn't find any good full-body images) but on the episode I watched today, she had on this flower-patterned sheath dress (something like this, only with a white background, not blue and not a v-neck... or this) and a side ponytail with a green ribbon tied in it. MUST HAVE IT! GAH!

Alright, time to eat a Skinny Cow ice cream cone and watch Shrek 2.

  1. I freaking love 48 hours. We've been watching Forensic Files, Murder By The Book and Snapped lately.
