Getting Scrappy With...

Welcome to this (very belated) Getting Scrappy With! The featured scrapper for this month is Susan Dupre, aka Scrappy Susan on Scrapbook.com. Susan was one of the first scrapbookers I came across when I joined Scrapbook.com. Her layouts are always so bright and colorful and fun! And her designs are always so unique. Susan is on several design teams ("My friends think I am crazy and tease me about the number of teams I am on," she says, "but I scrap so fast that getting my work done has never been a problem-unless my mojo has left me!") including Nikki Sivils, TaDa Studios, ATD-Momenta, and Really Reasonable Ribbon. You can find out more about Susan's design team work and see more of her great layouts on her blog, What the Scrap is That? But first, let's get to know Susan a little better, shall we?

What are your favorite scrapbook manufacturers?
I adore American Crafts, My Little Shoebox and October Afternoon - that is just a few though - I have way too many to name!!

When did you start scrapping?
I started scrapping about three years ago and haven't looked back! I love scrapping! I used to do interior design. I started out scrapping as a way of keeping memories. It is still that, but it has branched out to be a creative outlet for me. For me, scrapping is art.

How has your style evolved over the years?
I try to dabble in a little bit of every style, but I have to say I finally got down that negative space look. Still I love all styles and try to do them all.

How often do you scrap about yourself?
Very rarely, but I am trying to do it more often. I know it is important for my son to know about me too.

Where do you get your creative inspiration?
I would say I am most inspired by the amazingly talented scrappers out there. I love seeing the new ideas that come out. This inspires me to come up with my own new creative ideas.

Do you have a favorite technique that you use on layouts?
No I can't say I do, again because I try to do just about every style. I like to keep people guessing about what I will do next.

Where is your favorite place to scrap?
After we moved back to Texas, I was able to have my own scrap room. What was once a cute adorable space is now a total mess!

So is mine. Have you discovered any ways to tame the madness?
I have tried various ways of doing this. I now keep my papers organized by manufacturer. All my other supplies are separated by type, i.e. rub-ons together, chipboard together, flowers together, and so on.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Susan! I'm glad to have you as part of Cook Scrap Craft this week.

Come back tomorrow to see how Susan's work inspired me. Hopefully it will inspire you too!
